About Keldaro

01

Who we are

Keldaro is a small seasonal restaurant in the centre of Cape Town, cooking author's cuisine: dishes developed by the kitchen around the best ingredients available, rather than a fixed menu repeated all year. The room is intimate, in warm terracotta and cream, and built so that the pass is part of the space.

02

How the kitchen works

Our cooking starts at the market, not in a printed card. The chef writes a short list each week around what is genuinely at its best, and changes it as the produce changes. That is why the menu is compact, why some dishes appear only briefly, and why we would rather tell you a dish needs a few more minutes than send it before it is ready.

03

Three ways to eat with us

There are three ways to enjoy Keldaro:

  • dining in, in the restaurant, by reservation;
  • takeaway, for the part of the menu that travels well;
  • private gatherings, with a set seasonal menu agreed in advance.

Whichever you choose, telling us your group size and any dietary needs beforehand lets the kitchen plan properly.

04

Our approach to ingredients

We buy seasonally and locally where we can, treat vegetables with the same seriousness as anything else, and keep preparations honest. If a dish is not as good as it should be, it does not go out. This is a deliberately modest way to run a kitchen, and it is the one we believe in.
